Aquabound Tetra Paddle First Look: Go Ultralight in 2025!

Here is a first look at the new Aquabound Tetra Ultralight Paddle! These will be in specialty retailers starting in March 2025. I’ll start adding dealer website links here as the retailers start adding them to their site.

At just 21.25 oz, the new Tetra has me ditching my beloved Aquabound Tango. Just can’t go back! It’s not just the light weight. There is a buoyancy to the blade and a catch at the tip that feels just right. The shape of the shaft feels just great in my hands with shaft ovaling and surface feel that make for a comfortable light grip. Here’s all the info on the new Tetra:

Most ultralight paddles have the major drawback of durability issues. I was able to speak to the team at Aquabound about what sets the Tetra apart in relation to durability. They have added their patented LamLok blade reinforcement to the Tetra after unveiling this technology in their whitewater paddles in 2023. Five rows of aramid thread run along the tip go through the blade fabric and the internal foam core. When you hit your paddle on a rock you’ll see a lot less impact damage. Here’s the results of their tests:

Dan of Headwaters Kayak has also shared some video of his first look of the Tetra at a recent industry gathering in Oklahoma City. He’s been using this paddle for several months and I know he like it a lot!
